This is an excellent book.The author reviews past epidemics and highlights historically how the wealthy uses the “expediency of epidemics” to place blame on the indigent as well as racial groups for behaviors viewed as harmful to it instead of searching for the true causes of disease. Poor people’s lack of access to medical care, low wages, crowded abodes, and lack of adequate sanitation is believed to be the fault of the poor and not because of societal inequities.I recommend reading the book. It is very informative. A different view on the nature of epidemics.
